 Redfish can refer to many different species of fish, but is most commonly used to describe red snapper and orange barbary. The snapper is a coral reef-dwelling fish found in the Atlantic Ocean, from the east coast of the United States to southern Brazil and the Gulf of Mexico. The orange orange is a deep-sea species found in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Red snapper lives in water to a depth of 100 m. The fish has a bright red color, the back is darker. 

The red snapper, scientifically known as Lantanas capechanus, lives in shoals on the sea floor and inhabits rocks, wrecks and reefs. snappers spawn in the Gulf of Mexico in summer and off the coast of Florida in late summer to early fall. Snappers can weigh up to 16 kg, but less than 9 kg are more common. The average length of the fish is about 24 inches (60 cm).Commonly known as sow snapper and chicken snapper, this particular species of goldfish can live in excess of 40 years. The fish are carnivores with needle-like teeth. They feed on squid, octopus and other small sea creatures .game fish, snapper are also caught commercially. In the United States there are restrictions on the number of snappers that can be caught. However, snapper populations have not been considered endangered since 2011.The second most common fish known as redfish is the orange bass or orange bass. Also known as deep sea bass, this species is scientifically called Hoplostethus atlanticus.
