How to fishing Common snook

Fishing for common snook and fat snook is prohibited between the months of November and December on the coast of Paraná. The Secretary for the Environment and Water Resources, Rasca Rodrigues, participated in the closing of the IX Náutico Rally – held in the resort of Pontal do Sul – municipality of Pontal do Paraná, this weekend and recalled that the campaign for the protection of the species is a partnership with amateur fishermen and Yacht Clubs of the Coast.

According to resolution number 060/2009 of the Secretariat for the Environment and Water Resources, until December 31, sport fishermen are only allowed to practice 'catch and release'. This is due to the constant decrease of the species and its importance for the aquatic environment and for fishermen.

“It is an unprecedented resolution that aims to guarantee the conservation of aquatic fauna, keeping it in balance and ensuring the abundance of these species in the coastal region,” said the secretary.

Secretary Rasca recalled that the partnership with the Paranaense Fishing League, the Sport Fishing Federation, fishing clubs and Yacht Clubs on the Paranaense Coast has been essential to publicize the resolution and curb predatory fishing during the reproduction period of the species, as well as the sale of sea bass in this period.

Rules – In other months, up to seven specimens may be captured, regardless of the fish species, by amateur sport fishermen or underwater fishing practitioners. In this case, the sizes and weights allowed for each species must be observed. For the fat snook, the minimum size is 40 centimeters and the maximum, 50. As for the common snook, the allowed size varies between 60 and 70 centimeters.

According to the new regulation, each sport fisherman or underwater fishing fisherman will be able to capture and transport only a single specimen of the species with measurements exceeding the maximum size allowed – which will be considered a trophy.

Sport fisherman Gustavo Todeschini says that the unprecedented action in Paraná is important because both sport and professional fishermen depend on the amount of life of the animals in the Bay.

Gustavo explains that, in addition to reaching all ages, in fishing competitions, the sport only values and scores points for those who catch fish that are able to return to the water. “The championship rule is: only live fish is valid”, he points out. “The fisherman does not kill the animal. This serves to show everyone who will follow the championship that there is fun fishing and releasing fish, one of the great pleasures of fishing .
