how to catch octopus fishing

Hello fisherman, as you know my favorite fishing is sea bream fishing .
However, on this day a very weak sea was expected for fishing and as it was a big moon tide, I decided to go for the octopuses.

The tide was low in the morning, and since I had been thinking about going to try this fishing modality "fishing for octopuses" for some time, I went there.
However, that day I gained courage, invented some gear with two pieces of carbon (from fishing rods, of course) I attached some large hooks to the end, bought some sardines, put a support for the camera on the rod and off I went for the adventure.
I started down the cliff two hours before low tide.
As I had never done this fishing before, I knew I would waste a lot of time trying to find octopus tracks.
Although I knew I had to "feel" in the holes under the rocks, I had no idea how long I would have to leave the rod inside each hole.
Would it be a few minutes? Few seconds?

The octopus

I was already walking there through the puddles of water for a good thirty minutes, when I see a small octopus moving over the stones.
I could have grabbed him right away, but I decided to try to get the sardine close to him to see what his reaction was.
However the little octopus didn't mind my sardines at all, in fact it even fled into a hole.
I took the opportunity to try to see if I could catch him with my artifact.
Which actually worked really well.

I continued for approximately another hour, placing the sardine under the stones, but the truth is that I felt absolutely nothing.
I was already getting discouraged when I decided to try another area that was already far away.
As soon as I got there, I put the stick with the sardine under a stone, inside a hole and with the other hook I started to "feel" other holes that were around inside that puddle of water.

The fight with the octopus

Meanwhile, out of the corner of my eye, I see that my sardine rod that was there at the entrance to the hole, started to rotate and go under the stones.
I immediately let go of the hook, grabbed the pole and started to pull it out, however the octopus was so strong that I had to hold it with both hands.
As I didn't have any experience there, I fought with him for more than half an hour, because when I pushed too hard he let go.
Until, already in "desperation", I decide to put the two hooks inside the hole and pull them both at the same time.
To be honest, it turned out to be a lot easier than it seemed possible.
Maybe I was already tired, I don't know.
The truth is that it was a very well spent morning, I had a lot of fun and caught my first octopus.
